Virtual Reality: Reliving the Past, Present and Future

What is a virtual reality? Ask yourself how you really want to interact with virtual objects? The simple answer is that we want to handle them as if they are real, just reach out a hand to grasp them, pick them up, feel what they’re made of, and do all that in a natural way that requires no learning.” said Mike Sinclair, principal researcher at Microsoft Research’s Redmond, WA labs.

A person listening about it or experiencing it may consider it as an interesting thing, though this technology is not too new still it holds a lot of significance today in different sectors. Virtual reality is actually what its name suggests,a reality in the virtual sense can be explained as experiencing something real in the virtual sense. You will never get to sing with your favorite bands, probably never go to mars, never swim with dolphins or get to run on an Olympic track. But if virtual reality lives up all of these things can be experienced by just sitting at a place and then there will be no need to go anywhere. All the things of past can be recreated and people can experience it using VR. Unlike real world where everything happens in reality and all other five senses or elements are involved in it but in virtual reality simulation of that real world is done and hence this is used just by some computer sensory types of equipment.

Virtual Reality blocks you off the real world and builds such a system around you to give a wholesome realistic experience of the real things, it is not only used for entertaining purposes except entertainment it has many uses in educational and medical sector, even it is used to train air pilots and even used to train surgeons. Doesn’t it sound interesting? , experiencing everything that might not be possible in real sense and enjoying every bit of it by just a simulation. According to some online reports and articles, it is said that till 2025 it will take over more than the subscriptions of Netflix in America.

Virtual reality has often been used as a marketing buzzword for compelling, interactive video games or even 3D movies and television programs, none of which really count as VR because they don’t immerse you either fully or partially in a virtual world. Search for virtual reality in your cellphone app store and you’ll find hundreds of hits, even though a tiny cellphone screen could never get anywhere near producing the convincing experience of VR. Nevertheless, things like interactive games and computer simulations would certainly meet parts of our definition up above, so there’s clearly more than one approach to building virtual worlds—and more than one flavor of virtual reality. Here are a few of the bigger variations like Immersive, non-immersive and collaborative, full immersive type VR Gives full wholesome experience to the user and for the complete VR experience, we need three things. First, a plausible and richly detailed virtual world to explore a computer model or simulation, in other words. Second, a powerful computer that can detect what we’re going and adjust our experience accordingly, in real time (so what we see or hear changes as fast as we move just like in real reality). Third, hardware linked to the computer that fully immerses us in the virtual world as we roam around. Usually, we’d need to put on what’s called a head-mounted display (HMD) with two screens and stereo sound, and wear one or more sensory gloves. We’ll explore VR equipment in more detail in a moment, for a non-immersive and collaborative experience what you need is just a screen and like an airplane simulator which includes a screen some joystick and a controller except the joystick, some of these ways can be the types of experiencing it. To get this realistic experience just close your eyes and see yourself wearing a headset and surrounding some headset around your head and that’s it you are ready for an indulging experience. According to some reports, it is interpreted that it would be one of the most loved technology in the upcoming years for the people having different interests maybe gaming, sports, education or anything that can be done using this technology.
